Col. Glenn E. Richard, USAF (ret) of Universal City, passed away on April 17, 2014 at the age of 73, after a 3 year battle with cancer. He was born in Canton, IL to Lloyd Wallace Richard and Marjorie Mae Dunning Richard Smith on July 29, 1940. He graduated from Memphis State University in June 1961, received a Master’s degree and completed a 2 year clinical residence in Prosthodontics at Dayton, OH and received his DDS degree from the University of Tennessee in 1965. He became a Diplomat of American Board of Prosthodontics in 1973. Glenn retired in 1988 from the United States Air Force with the rank of Colonel and received the Legion of Merit Award. While serving in the Air Force, he traveled through Europe, Southeast Asia and the United States. After retiring he did private practice and taught at Indiana University and University of Texas until June 2007. He was granted a lifetime membership in the Delta Sigma Delta in the Supreme Chapter on March 21, 1965 and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4676. His greatest enjoyment was bowling and playing Keno at the casino.
He is survived by his loving wife, Gloria Durham Richard; son, Glenn Richard II and wife, Teresa Dawn of Colbert, WA; daughter, Debbie Richard of Huber Heights, OH; step-daughter, Patsy and husband, Stewart Hunt; step-sons, David Thompson, David and Jen Compian, Mike and Michelle Compian and Brian Compian; brother, Larry Richard and wife, Phyllis of Mesa, AZ; several grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 24, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with a service to follow at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
