Gloria Ann Gonzales, a respected, retired accountant, was regarded for her meticulous work, unwavering integrity, and infectious generosity passed away on December 3rd, 2025. She was 80 yrs old.
Born on October 10th, 1945 in San Antonio, Texas, Gloria dedicated her life to numbers but even more so to people, building an eminent career in accounting that spanned over 56 yrs.
In 1983 she quit her job and opened her home office where she served as a trusted adviser & mentor to clients & colleagues all who became life long friends. Clients would often joke that their annual tax appointments were there best & worst days, with grace and charm she managed to turn that daunting day into an engaging memorable time. She remembered her clients, their families, & life long events, relished in hearing what they had done or accomplished since their last meet. She kept every picture, every invitation, every letter received as a reminder of just how honored she was to be a part of their lives.
She was a wife, mother, sister, daughter, & grandmother, a title she was proud to hold. She once told us that being a grandmother was the greatest feeling, a feeling that filled and warmed her heart.
Beyond ledger books, and spreadsheets, she had the ability to make a complicated world a little simpler, and a lot warmer. Gloria made everyone & anyone feel valued and loved, expressing boundless empathy. She touched every life she encountered, leaving a lasting legacy of trust, compassion, & genuine care. To know one life breathed easier because she lived is to know she truly succeeded while here. “Death leaves an ache no one can heal, Love leaves a memory no one can steal.” Gloria was truly beloved by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is survived by her daughter Sylvia, her granddaughter Keirsten, & her grandson Grayson, sisters: Gigi, Ida, Sylvia, Letty, brother Joe, & numerous nieces & nephews & friends.
Preceded in death by her husband Rudy, her daughter Sara, her son in law Rick, her sister Mary, and brothers Chris and Michael.
Friends & family are invited to a service to honor Gloria’s memory on Friday December 12th, at Sunset Funeral Home 1701 Austin Hwy, San Antonio, TX 78218 from 5 to 9 pm. We encourage those who knew her to come and offer a kind word, a favorite story by someone who may be gone but will never be forgotten.
