

Gloria Sanchez Lopez, lovingly known as Gloria by her friends and family, passed away peacefully at home in her birthplace of San Antonio, Texas on November 19, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on December 14, 1958, Gloria’s life was a testament to her strength, resilience, and unwavering love for her family.
Gloria’s radiant spirit and infectious laughter left and unforgettable mark on all who knew her. Her life was filled with joyous moments surrounded by the people she loved.
Gloria’s devotion to her family was unparallel, and she will be deeply missed by her daughter, Julia Carreon, and son-in-law, Marco Carreon Sr. Her legacy will live on through her grandchildren, Dr. Marco Carreon Jr., his wife, Krislynn Carreon, Granddaughter, Camryn Carreon, as well as her great granddaughter Evelynn Cherie Carreon. Gloria’s Heart was filled with the pride she had for her Grandchildren and their accomplishments.
Gloria was preceded in death by her father, Jesus Z. Sanchez; her sister, Sylvia R. Sanchez; and her brothers Jesus R. Sanchez II and Jose Angel Sanchez.
Her beloved mother, Zoila R. Sanchez, sadly passed away the day following Gloria’s departure.
Gloria’s memory will be cherished by her surviving siblings; Theresa Jimenez (Richard), Richard Sanchez (June), Rene Sanchez (Maria), Ralph Sanchez (Lisa), Annie S. Ledesma (Joe), Jesus R. Sanchez III (Kathy), and Raymond Sanchez. She also leaves behind numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, godchildren, and a host of loving friends who will miss her dearly.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Gonzaba Medical Group, Dr. Raylene Villanueva-Rampf, Dr. Elizabeth Bowhay-Carnes with UT Health Mayes Cancer Center, and all the caring nurses who provided exceptional care and support during Gloria’s illness.
Gloria’s professional life was marked by dedicated service to Target, where she worked from 2004 until her retirement. Her colleagues will remember her for her hard work, dedication, and willingness to help others.Gloria was a devout Catholic who was devoted to the Mission Concepcion. She was honored to continue the tradition of sponsoring the Virgen de Guadalupe mass celebration in honor of her late brother, Jesus R. Sanchez II, a tradition that was started in 1964 by her late grandparents, Manuel and Maria Sanchez.
Gloria's passion for cooking was a true gift. She poured her heart into every dish she made, ensuring each meal was a delightful experience for those around her. Over the years, she became known for her incredible culinary skills, catering weddings, quinceañeras, parties, and other special events for countless friends and family members. Her cooking wasn't just about the food; it was about creating moments of joy and connection. Whether it was a lavish celebration or an intimate gathering, Gloria’s meals were always the centerpiece of the event, leaving a lasting impression on everyone who was fortunate enough to taste her creations.
She loved dancing to country music, playing Texas hold ‘em, and trying her luck at the lottery. She was also a devoted fan of the Houston Texans, cheering on her favorite team through every season.
Gloria’s life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, laughter and kindness. She has left a void that can never be filled, but her spirit will continue to guide and inspire those who were fortunate to have known her. Gloria Lopez will forever remain in our hearts as a beacon of love, and family devotion.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, December 1, 2024, at Porter Loring Mortuary.
