Gloria Medina Valadez, a beacon of unwavering faith and kindness, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2024, at the age of 85 surrounded by those she loved. Born on July 1, 1938, to the late Carlos Medina and Rosa Levine, Gloria's life was a testament to her wisdom and the deep love she held for her family and her community.
Gloria was the cherished matriarch of a large and loving family. She is survived by her devoted children: Gloria Valadez, Helen Orosco, Rachel Van Vleck, and Carol Munoz. Her legacy continues to blossom through her 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy and purpose to her life. Gloria was also a beloved sister to her 12 siblings. She was predeceased by her dear brother Louis, her son Victor, and her grandson Royce, whose memories she held close to her heart.
When life presented challenges, Nana transformed them into opportunities for growth and learning. By staying optimistic and resilient, she not only navigated through tough times but also inspired others to do the same, showing them that setbacks are temporary and strength lies within their own attitude and perspective. Gloria's presence was a constant in the lives of those around her. She was a pillar of her community, always extending a hand of support and a word of encouragement to those who were fortunate enough to know her.
Just as Nana nurtured wilting flowers back to life with tenderness and patience, she approached each challenge in life with the same steadfast determination and unwavering patience. In a world that often rushes by in a blur, Nana reminded us of the importance of slowing down, of taking the time to appreciate the beauty around us, and of nurturing the things that matter most.
Her faith was the cornerstone that grounded her, and she lived by the well-known words of Mother Teresa, "Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love." This philosophy was evident in every aspect of Gloria's existence, as she approached each day with a heart full of love and a spirit of generosity.
Travel was one of Nana’s passions, and she cherished the opportunities to explore new places and cultures. These experiences not only broadened her horizons but also allowed her to create lasting memories with her family. Her wisdom was often imparted through stories of the adventures she had and the people she met along the way.
As we bid farewell to our beloved Nana, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and joy. Her spirit remains a guiding light for her family and all who knew her. Though she may be gone from our sight, the love she shared and the lessons she taught will continue to resonate through generations.
We take solace in knowing that her journey was a remarkable one, marked by the love she gave and the grace with which she lived her life. Our Nana will be deeply missed, but her memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of those she touched.
We love you Nana and will miss you immensely.
