M SGT Gordon R. Allen Sr. (US. ARMY Retired)

M SGT. Gordon R. Allen, Sr., went to be with the Lord on April 13, 2018, at the age of 86. Born in Swampscott, Massachusetts, he was the oldest of 13 children.

He enlisted in the US Army and served during the Vietnam and Korean wars. Following his 30 years of military service he became a postal carrier for 12 years. He was an active member of his church, St Thomas More, a member of Knights of Columbus, and a life member of VFW Post 8541.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 66 years Katherine “Kay”, his 2 daughters, Rose, & Kathy, his 2 sons and their wives, Gordon Jr, & Brenda, James, & Stacey, his 8 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, his sisters, Annette, Betsy, Christine, Diane, Eileen, Kathleen, Melvina, Nancy and Yvonne and his brothers, Eugene, Wilfred, George.

The family would like to thank the doctors & staff of BAMC, and Lackland Wilford Hall, the nurses & staff of Brookdale Alamo Heights, and hospice for their care and compassion.

Visitation: Tuesday, May 1st at 6 pm at Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Highway, followed by Rosary at 7 pm. that same Evening. Mass: Wednesday, May 2nd at at 9:30 am at St Thomas More Catholic Church followed by Graveside Service with full military honors at Ft Sam Houston National Cemetery.
