She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles H. Allen and her son, Gus Mauermann Allen.
She is survived by her daughter Lisa Marie Allen; her two grandchildren, Elizabeth Allen Stephens and her husband, Scott, and Scott Arneson Allen; her daughter in law, Ann Arneson Allen; her two sisters, Mildred Morton and her husband, Stanley, and Julia Hays Carlson and her husband, Les; and numerous cousins.
Grace's parents were Gus B. Mauermann, former Mayor of San Antonio and Julia Mauermann. She is descended from Asa Mitchell, who landed in 1832 in Galveston from a grounded schooner with 300 workers and were founders of San Antonio in the Mitchell lake area.
Grace was an exceptional artist and studied at the McNay under Diego Rivera where Mrs. McNay had her train his students. She then founded Allen's Flowers & Gifts and Best Wholesale 67 years ago with her husband. She taught many young people in the floral business and decorated many important social occasions.
Per Grace's wishes, there will be no funeral services.
