

Grace attended Long Island College Hospital School of Nursing and received her R.N. in 1951. In 2012, it was announced that the Nursing School was to be closed. It was the longest running hospital-based school of nursing in the United States (1858 to 2012). After nurses training, she attended St. John’s University in New York. She moved to San Antonio in 1957 where she worked at the Robert B. Green Hospital, and from there she went to Santa Rosa’s Children’s Hospital as Director of Nurses. In San Antonio, she attended Incarnate Word College and Trinity University. In 1972, she was the 4th employee hired for the start-up operation of San Antonio Community Hospital. After the purchase of the parent company SACH, she moved to St. Luke’s as Associate Administrator. She moved to Dallas in 1979 and held the position of Sr. Vice President for American Health Care Management.
Grace loved to travel and was fortunate enough to be able to travel to many countries in five continents. In 1990 she returned to San Antonio and started a Home Health Agency then retired in 1998. After she became bored at home (four months) she went back to work for Encompass Home Health. Grace worked in a profession she loved for 59 years before final retirement at the age of 80.
Grace is preceded in death by her parents, George and Martha Dilworth; adopted sister, Mary Larkin; sister, Marion Coulter; and nephew, Daniel Massey. She is survived by a loving and caring family: Her nieces, Grace Holt, Kathi Vuillemot (Jimmy), and Mickey Stone; her nephew, Robert Massey; her great nephew, Van Holt (Annette); her great nieces, Stacy Rodgers, Jennifer Jones, Lauren Lawson, Lisa Massey Rocha (Mike), Valeria Culet (Mark) and Jessica Cook (Tommy); and numerous great-great nieces and nephews, as well as numerous great-great-great nephews.
