

Graham Pickrell "Pick" Spalding left us peacefully to be with our Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 26, 2009. He was born October 1, 1929 in Louisville, Kentucky to Wallace H. Spalding and Nell Hill Spalding. He grew up in Louisville.
In 1944 he moved with his family to San Antonio. Pick graduated from Central Catholic High School class of 1947.
Upon returning to Louisville with his family, he attended the University of Louisville. Pick served his Country from 1951 to 1953 in the U.S. Army, 522nd Military Police Company during the Korean Conflict.
In 1952, he married the love of his life, Sallie in Austin and they recently celebrated their 57th Wedding Anniversary. After they married and he was discharged from the U.S. Army, he began his professional career with Sherwin-Williams and later with Negley Paint Co. in San Antonio.
Pick and Sallie have been devoted members of St. Pius X Catholic Church, St. Peter's and St. Joseph Children's Home Auxiliary and Pick was a Lifetime Member of the Alamo Heights Optimist Club. Pick was a Scoutmaster of his son's Boy Scout Troop. His hobbies included painting, stamp collecting and fishing.
Pick was preceded in death by his parents, his sister and two brothers.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sallie; daughter, Amy Spalding Davis and husband, Don; son, Michael Spalding; a beloved grandson, Christopher Spalding and wife, Irene; brother, Clem H. Spalding, Sr. and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 29, 2009 beginning at 6:00 p.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Church.
