Our Beautiful baby boy Grayson Ryker Henderson came into the world on September 3rd, 2013 with a condition known as Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. Grayson was a light in everyone’s lives. He had Daddy’s chin and Mommy’s dimple. His smile was radiant. He had such a magnetic personality, anyone who met him fell in love instantly. Grayson loved looking out the window with the sun shining on his face. He hated getting his diaper changed and temperature taken, though was stuck by a needle with no complaints. He disliked baths but always loved getting his hair washed. His face would light up when he was sung to. His favorite song was “You Are My Sunshine” and he was ours. He would often grunt to let us know when he didn’t like something. For the most part Grayson was a very happy and mellow baby, despite his illness. His favorite place to be was in mommy’s arms against her chest. Grayson spent his whole life in hospitals, never being able to go home. We were by his side every day of his life and cherished every single moment we had with him. He was a fighter from the beginning; the doctors didn’t think he’d make it out of the delivery room. After months of procedures, tests, complications, and a second opinion it became clear that the best thing for Grayson was to be made comfortable and let go. Grayson was returned to San Antonio to be close to those that loved him. We treasured the last days we spent with Grayson. He gave us so much love and happiness. Grayson put up a valiant effort and fought to the very end. We know he is just sleeping and the day will come where he will be resurrected and we will be with Grayson in a paradise on Earth. We are grateful Grayson was with us for as long as he was. He taught us a strength we didn’t know we had. We are better for having him in our lives.
He is survived by his Parents Stefanie and Nathan Henderson.
Grandparents Manuel Herrera, Jesse and Norma Henderson, James and Margaret Caldwell.
Great grandparents Joe and Dalia Doctor, Elia James, and Laura Nava.
Numerous Uncles, Aunts, cousins, and friends.
