Gregory Hamad Hartle died on Friday, January 29, 2021. He was born on August 1st, 1970, in Kuwait City, Kuwait. He was known to his family and friends as Hamad. As the son of an Air Force NCO, he spent his early life in Louisiana, Belgium, Michigan, and San Angelo, Texas.
He was an early computer user and was one of the founders of the Concho Valley Modem User Group in the 1980s. He graduated with a B.S. in Computer Science from Angelo State University. In his youth, Hamad traveled all over the country.
After settling in Austin, Texas, Hamad found his calling with the Internal Revenue Service. He was a Lead Programmer in the Training Software Division, a position he held until his passing. Hamad believed deeply in public service, and the progress of his career reflects the depth of his commitment.
He was known by everyone who knew him as a big-hearted, caring person who was always ready for a big hug. He lived as he believed, and was philanthropic to many local and national organizations. The world is a little dimmer without his infectious laugh and wry smile.
Hamad is preceded in death by his grandparents George Ripley "Rip" Bunner and George and Dorothy Hartle, and aunt Donna Hartle. He is survived by his parents, Jim and Gayle Hartle; his brother, Robert Hartle; his sister-in-law, Joie Pickett; his nephew, George Hartle; his grandmother Theresa Bunner; uncles George Bunner, Jr. (Liz), Bill Hartle (Karen), and Gary Hartle (Elaine); and aunt Sr. Germaine Hartle.
A private service with family was held, and a memorial service will be held in the future when normal gatherings are safe.
