Born on September 5, 1943, in San Antonio, Lupe spent her life dedicated and deeply rooted in the family she loved. From a young age, she demonstrated an earnest and responsible spirit that would define her life's journey. Her thoughtful and dutiful approach to everything she did left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Lupe’s professional path was as dynamic as it was inspiring. She began her working life as a counter waitress downtown across from the Alamo. Her ambition and perseverance led her to new opportunities; when alongside her brothers, she became a restaurant owner, contributing to the Chapa family entrepreneurial spirit. Much of that being accomplished after spending many years maintaining a career in civil service with the same commitment and integrity that characterized every chapter of her life.
Despite her busy professional life, Lupe always prioritized her family. She sewed and fixed clothes for her children, family and friends. The home she maintained for her family was a testament to her unwavering care and devotion to loved ones. Her home was a place of warmth and provision for all, many from beyond her immediate family. Once again, reflecting the deep love she held for those around her.
Lupe is survived by her beloved husband, Eduardo; sons Luis (wife Tonya and children Julianna and William), Daniel (children Brittany and Rebecca), Eddie (children Jeremy, Christa, Eddie V., and Lucas); daughter Veronica (wife Lisa and daughter Juliana); as well as eight great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to her later years. As well as her siblings Carlota (husband Hector and children Charles, Rick and Mike), Juanita (husband David and children Paula and Priscilla) and Cruz (wife Margaret and children Robert and Javier) and dozens of nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her father Santos Chapa; mother Paula Chapa; and brothers Rogelio, Juan, and Dario.
Lupe’s legacy of hard work, devotion to family, and thoughtful, compassionate care will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her. Despite her departure, may her memory bring comfort and peace to those whose lives she touched.
