

Born on August 22, 1939, in Kosciusko, Texas, Lupe’s life was one of unwavering love, dedication, and service, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew her. Raised by her late mother, Dolores S. Hernandez, Lupe inherited a legacy of strength, courage and compassion that would define her own journey through life.
Her sister, Olivia DeHoyos and her husband Rudolfo remember Lupe as a vibrant spirit and the close-knit bond they shared throughout the years. Lupe knew deep, unwavering love with her beloved late husband, Hector Rios, and together they built a life filled with countless treasured moments.
A devoted mother, Lupe’s legacy lives on through her daughters Alma Rios Arteaga, Annette Rios Glaesmann with husband Alan, Lorena Rios Carreno with husband Rene and son Hector Rios Jr. Lupe was blessed with a lineage of grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought her immeasurable happiness. Jennifer Ramirez with husband Sean, Aerin Moss with husband Rhodie, Katerina Almanza, Adam Carreno, Kyle Glaesmann with wife Gracie, Bianna Rios, Ellisia Arteaga, Kristen Glaesmann, Diego Rios and Sofia Rios will forever cherish the wisdom and love she imparted. Lupe was also a doting great-grandmother to seven great-grandchildren, who will grow with stories of her kindness and the love for music.
Professionally, Lupe dedicated years of work service before becoming a Certified Nurses Assistant where her hard work and commitment were well respected by nurses and doctors.
A devout Catholic, Lupe’s faith was the heartbeat of her life, carrying her through every joy and every hardship with grace. It was this deep devotion that led her to become a Guadalupana—a sisterhood of Mexican American women committed to community, compassion, and spiritual growth in honor of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
Lupe’s interests and hobbies reflected her love of singing and her creative spirit. She found solace in playing music in her room.
Guadalupe Rios’ life was a tapestry woven with love, faith and service. As we bid farewell to this remarkable woman, we take solace in the knowledge that her spirit will continue to guide and inspire us. Her legacy of love, resilience, and joy will remain a comforting presence in the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Rosary service will be held on Monday June 1, 2026, at 7:00 pm at Sunset Funeral Home & Memorial Park located at 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, Texas. Funeral Mass service will be held on Tuesday June 2, 2026, at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church located at 1710 Clower, San Antonio, Texas starting at 1:00 pm followed by the burial at Sunset Funeral Home section 9 at 3:00 pm
