Guillermo is survived by his loving wife, Matilde, and their sons, Adrian and Edgar, Adrian's wife, Lynn, and their children, Nathan, Jacob, and Samson.
Guillermo was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on April 26, 1929, to Marcos and Emma Gresores, who had previously immigrated from Russia and Ukraine. Guillermo's family later moved to the nearby beach resort of Mar del Plata, Argentina. There, his only sibling, Juan Carlos, was born six years later. Guillermo graduated from high school in 1947. He worked with his father in the family hat workshop, later moving back to Buenos Aires. In 1958, he emigrated to the United States, first living with relatives in New York City. The following year, having answered a classified ad seeking a Spanish-speaking store manager, he moved to El Paso, Texas. In 1962, he flew to Argentina and married Matilde, a childhood friend. They returned to El Paso where Adrian was born in 1963. Three months later, the tiny family moved to Laredo, Texas. In 1966, they further moved to Brownsville, Texas, with Edgar born there a few months later. Guillermo owned several successful retail stores in Brownsville. He retired in 1999. Guillermo and Matilde then moved to San Antonio, Texas, to be closer to family.
Guillermo was an avid reader. He enjoyed listening to classical music, jazz and tango. He loved entertaining and cooking for family and friends. He traveled the world and had enjoyed scuba diving. His business was a joy and a passion for him.
Above all, spending time with family and friends came first. He loved making people laugh with his quirky, corny sense of humor. To all who would listen, he recounted stories of his life for hours on end. He had an amazing ability to make each person he met feel special.
Guillermo's funeral and burial were held at the Congregation Agudas Achim cemetery of Memorial Gardens in San Antonio on November 17, 2013. Family and friends were in attendance. A reception took place at his home after the ceremony.
Memorial donations will be designated towards cancer research. Checks to "Hadassah" may be mailed in care of Elka Jaross, 415 Palo Verde Dr, Brownsville, TX 78521.
