Gumecindo N. Reynero, born on January 13, 1930 in Buda, TX was received to be with The Lord with open arms on June 18, 2025, at the age of 95. He was a devoted loving husband, caring and hardworking father, and a blessed and wonderful grandfather, great grandfather and was also a father to many, as he was loved by so many.
He received his wings peacefully surrounded by his family and loved ones. He is survived by his children, Gumecindo (Dora) Reynero Jr., J. Elizabeth (Mark) Vasquez, and grandchildren: Clarice, Camilla, Erika, Rebekah (Demetrie), Nathalie (Bryant), Mark Jr. (Rauchelle), Nathan, and great grandchildren. Reunited with his wife, his parents, siblings, and many others whose lives he impacted. Gumecindo was a very religious man and had so much faith. He practiced his faith by always praying, faithfully attending church, and by visiting San Juan del Villa Church in San Juan, Texas, and making “Promesas” (Promises), and when God would fulfill his prayer request, he would return to the church of San Juan to pay his respects and love for answering his prayers. He was a very respected and loving husband and father. He made sure to provide everything his family ever wanted, needed, and more throughout their entire lifetime.
“Our beloved Daddy”
Our father loved his children with all his heart and soul, he lived to provide for us, and supported us throughout the years. Whether it was by attending one of our functions as children or as adults, plus he always made time to take the family out on payday for a special treat, which was always nice. He also enjoyed taking us on vacations and those are memories we will cherish forever. Our Father was always present whenever we needed him for any small or big task, he was always ready to help any way he could and never said “no”. He was a wonderful grandfather as well; he was always willing to pick up his grand-daughters from school or take them to an appointment or home if they needed a ride. He also attended all their birthday parties, school functions, school plays, music performances, and the many graduations. Our father was a wonderful and passionate man, and lived a very good life to the best of his abilities and beyond; he was a very strong man. The word “NO” was not in his vocabulary when it came to our family, extended family members, and friends. He was always willing to do whatever you needed and it was always done with passion and love. Our dad was a respectful man and was in turn respected by all who knew him.
Our father grew up in Laredo, TX although he also lived in many different states, like Michigan, Illinois, Ohio, Colorado, and several cities in Texas, he landed in San Antonio, Texas as his final place where he lived the majority of his life, where he and our mother Francis lived for 68 years together. Their marriage was a beautiful love story that we all hope to have. The respect and love they had for each other was like no other. They built a beautiful home at 126 Querida for both my brother and I and their grandchildren. We were so very blessed to have had such loving, wonderful, and caring parents, and I personally thank God for blessing us with our “Dad and Mom”. They are now living together again in eternal life, but will always be with us in our hearts.
Our father only attended up to the 2nd grade because his family needed him to help work, just like most families did back then, but while in school he was taught reading, writing, and math where he could multiple and divide big numbers in his head, it was very impressive. Our Dad was a very smart man and knew how to do many tasks, whether you needed your car fixed, cement work, or carpentry, like an addition to your home, our father did it all. He was a jack of all trades, and always happy to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. There was not a project he wouldn’t take on, or a hand to lend to help fix something.
Our father worked in the fields picking vegetables and cotton in different states from the time he was 10 years old into his late teens. And before our father married his love of his life Francis, our mother, he went to work for the railroad company in Michigan for a few years but was then offered a job in San Antonio, Texas to work for Gary Pools which he devoted his final career working for 35 years as a supervisor. He loved working at Gary Pools and making swimming pools. And he even chose a blue casket so he can swim forever.
Our father enjoyed traveling to see different cities and states, but especially loved the Bahamas (he visited twice in his lifetime, once by plane with his Gary Pools family, and the other time by ship on a Cruise). He enjoyed going to Sea World with our mother, us, and the grandkids to enjoy the scenery and shows. He also enjoyed going to the casinos, and even the local “tiendita” (corner store) and HEB to grab a scratch off ticket or two, he had the best luck and would win a lot (85% of the time). He also loved watching the “The Price is Right”, football (Go Cowboys) and going to baseball games (Go Astros & Go Missions). His favorite foods were Chinese, Italian, Mexican food, and BBQ-ing for his family. Many times, in the backyard, and also at Brackenridge & Garner State Park.
Whether you knew him as Dad, Pops, Grandpa, Popo, Amigo, or Compadre he loved you with his whole heart. It shows in his family as they carry on his legacy forever in their hearts and faith. Though no amount of time will ever be enough, please honor us (the family) by holding your loved ones close. Make the time, make the call, take the trip and make loving memories.
Our father was and is the definition of a passionate hard-working man and devoted family man. We will carry him forever in our hearts, until we meet again.
