On November 6, 2021, Guy Bourne was welcomed into Heaven by God, his father, mother, and son. Guy was born in Guys Hospital, London, England on May 6, 1955. As a young boy he loved football (soccer) and as a youth, his talent was seen by Crystal Palace Football Club youth academy in London. Later an injury would sideline him, and he chose to follow his father and brother into the City of London Police. In 1980, he immigrated to America, married Gretchen and they had a son, Dan. Guy performed security services and transitioned into transportation, where he started Guys Cab Company. He will be missed by his clients. He loved to share his stories of London and the history of our two countries.
He was an ambassador for Premier League Football and his team Crystal Palace FC to soccer players who played in the San Antonio Soccer Association. In 1980, the Blades FC was formed and as a player he enjoyed the camaraderie of the men he played, coached and managed on Sunday mornings.
Guy was preceded in death by his parents, Mike and Joan Bourne, and his son, Daniel (Dan). He is survived by his wife, Jean Bourne, his brother, Rodger Bourne and wife, Michelle, and cousins in the UK.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Parkhills Baptist Church at Parkhills.org, Operation Battle Buddies at operationbattlebuddies4vets.com and/or San Antonio Jewish Senior Services at SAJSS.com.
