Gwendolyn Mary Wright Burke, age 62, died on Thursday, November 22, 2001 in San Antonio. She was a faithful wife, loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed family life. She graduated from Ohio State in 1962 and taught school for 2 years in Ohio prior to moving to San Antonio with her family. A longtime seamstress, she contributed her talents to the weddings of her friends and family. She also shared her talents by teaching sewing classes to adults in San Antonio for over 20 years. She was a longtime active member of University Presbyterian Church, Trinity University Women's Club, San Antonio Fiber Artists, and Friendship Quilters. She is survived by her husband, Dr. John A. Burke, Jr., of San Antonio; son, Dr. J. Andrew Burke and wife Alicia C. of Metuchen, NJ; son, Christopher "Kipper" Burke and wife Catherine of San Antonio; daughter, Betsy Landry and husband Jeff of San Antonio; grandchildren, Logan, Anthony and Katrine Burke of Metuchen, NJ, Addison and Campbell Burke of San Antonio, and Kristin and Erin Landry of San Antonio; aunts, Blanche Carter and husband Harry, Betty Goss, and Enid Wiseman and husband Russell, all of Ohio.
