He was 86 years old. Born in Haverhill, Massachusetts, he attended the New England Conservatory of Music before enlisting in the Army in 1936.
He later received a commission in the Air Force and served with distinction in World War II.
After retiring from the Air Force in 1964 he worked in San Antonio with Berman Tax Service.
A devoted violinist, he performed for many years with the Trinity Community Symphony Orchestra.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Joy Berman; son, David Berman and wife Debra of Wilmington, North Carolina; daughter, Joan Mizrahi and husband Maurice of Burke, Virginia; brother, Sydney Berman of Atlanta, Georgia; grandsons, Michael Mizrahi, Jonathan Mizrahi, and John Berman; granddaughter, Trina Mizrahi; and many nieces and nephews.
