Harold Edward Howser
January 4, 1947 – June 12, 2019
Harold Edward Howser, age 72, of Bulverde, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 12, 2019. He was born January 4, 1947 in Morgan County, MO. to the late Okal J. and Sophia M Howser. Hal and Sheryl Eberly were married in 1997. Sheryl passed away of cancer in 2003. Hal then moved to Texas where he met Darlene Volz Dickerson who had also lost her spouse to cancer in 2003. A new love was found during this difficult time and they were married on October 14, 2004. He was preceded in death by his parents, Father in Law Frank, and a younger sister and brother. He is survived by his mother in law Mary Lee, wife Darlene, Stepchildren Jodi, Russell and Kelly, grandchildren Lauren and Zach, and numerous other members of the Volz Family. He will be dearly missed by everyone that knew him.
Hal attended a one room school house in the Ozark Mountains. At the age of 16 his teacher said he learned everything she knew so he graduated! He then left home at the age of 16 to attend college at Central Missouri State University where he earned a Masters Degree in Social Studies. Hal was a daring man who didn't mind starting new adventures in life so over the years his job history was very diverse. Coaching a University girls track and field team, running a Hospital dietary service department, managing resort hotels and ranches and event planning were just a few of his job adventures. The job Hal chose later in life as a Special Education Teacher in Texas was one of his favorite and most rewarding. He helped many children with his kindness, patience and perseverance.
When Hal moved to Texas and married Darlene he acquired a large family! He spoke often of how much he loved spending time at family functions surrounded by his new found big Texas family. His Grandson Zach spent many days with Hal talking about life and other "guy stuff" and Zach will miss his buddy.
Hal also loved attending The Cowboy Church, Western movies and all things Cowboy! We are asking everyone in attendance at his memorial service to dress in their most western outfit to honor Hal.
A Memorial Service will be held on: Monday, June 24th 10:00 AM
Emerald Oaks Retirement Resort Auditorium 20302 Bulverde Road San Antonio, TX 78259
