LOIS HARRIETTE HORNE PEARCE, affectionately known as “Honey” and “Grandma Honey”, entered this world on July 21, 1924, to Olin Sugar Horne and Irene Thomas Horne, and went home to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 13, 2020, at the age of 95. She was born as the third of five children in Metcalfe, Georgia, a farming community near the Georgia-Florida state line; attended local schools and a nearby business college; and was employed as secretary to the the local school district superintendent until she married. An Air Force wife and a member of the Greatest Generation, Honey said “I do” to Charles Arthur (Chuck) Pearce in 1945 after his return from Army Air Force flying duty in the South Pacific, and was married to him for 58 years, until his death in 2003. Honey and Chuck lived in California, Florida, Mississippi, Newfoundland, South Carolina, and Japan, before they were transferred in 1961 to San Antonio, Texas, where she lived for the rest of her life. She was an active member of Northeast Baptist Church, San Antonio, Texas and a former Ambassador for Secure Horizons. Honey was a true Southern gentle lady, had a wonderful smile, a great sense of humor, and much love for all of her family. She enjoyed ikebana, a skill she learned while living in Japan; flower gardening; and collected giraffes and just about anything with a hummingbird theme. Honey had the gift of encouragement and faithfully visited home-bound friends; when she was no longer able to do that, she called and sent uplifting notes to those same people, as well as to others. She read her Bible daily, along with her devotional guide, and she was a prayer warrior, earnestly interceding for all of her family. She cheered for the Spurs, Dallas Cowboys, and Texas Longhorns. She is survived by son, Charles L. (Larry) Pearce and wife, Cindy; daughter, Linda Pearce Hauser and husband, Gregory (Greg); son, Kenneth H. (Ken) Pearce and wife, Gay Lee; daughter, Patti Pearce Davenport and husband, Willard (Willie); and son, Christopher O. (Chris) Pearce and wife, Hope; six grandchildren (Jennifer Pearce Schwantes; Scott Pearce; Tracy Hauser Roth; Salem Pearce; Jordan Pearce; and Andrew (Andy) Pearce. One grandchild, Kelly Pearce Huber, predeceased her); three step-grandsons (David Rook, Bruce Rook, Robert (Bob) Rook and their families—step-daughter Lisbeth (Libby) Rook predeceased her); eight great-grandchildren (Ashley Huber; Taylor Huber; Garren Schwantes; Charlie Roth; Jack Roth; Archer Pearce; Abbott Pearce; and Ames Pearce); sister, Janet L. (Net) McLendon; sister-in-law, Joyce Pearce Jackson; and several nieces, nephews and their families in Georgia. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in her name to Northeast Baptist Church, San Antonio, Texas or the charity of your choice.

She was my mom’s best friend and neighbor for more than 50 years. We were like two families that lived across the street from each other but family we all could rely on. Say hi to mom when you get settled in heaven❤️😇

Your mom had a very full life as shown in the pictures that have been posted. I loved seeing the pictures of your mom and dad and you "kids" as I first knew you. I'd never seen your dad with hair, so that was fun to see. I'm sorry for your loss but I know that Mr. and Mrs. Pearce are together again in their heavenly home. Sending love to all of you!

Linda I can remember you taking me to meet your Mom and Dad and Patty years ago. I remember her big smile and how she made you feel welcome in her home. Her spirit and love for life lives on in her kids and grandkids. I will keep you and your loved ones in my prayers. After things settle down we will get together. Love to you and your family.

It was about 20 years ago while I was on my first of many business trips to San Antonio and Granddaddy asked that I stay with him and Honey. As part of the deal I brought dinner on my way home and the entertainment was Walker, Texas Ranger. Afterwards it was time for bed and when I walked into the bedroom the bed was turned down - I knew it was Honey's welcoming touch. She always had that perfect southern way about her you knew she extended to everyone she was near. We will miss you, Honey. Thanks for all your loving care and thoughtfulness, may we each carry a version of your ways - RIP
