Hartsill Trenton "Big Hart" Everett, 87, of San Antonio, Texas, died peacefully of natural causes on Saturday, September 20, 2014. Mr. Everett was born on May 4, 1927, in Haskell, Texas, to his parents, Roy Trenton Everett and Loraine (Rayburn) Everett.
Mr. Everett was known as a teenager for his track and basketball skills. He graduated from Haskell High School and served in the U.S. Army Airborne during World War II. He then attended McMurry College in Abilene, Texas, for four years. It was during this time that Mr. Everett met the love of his life, Patty Joyce Moorhead. They were married in September, 1951, in Denton, Texas, and then resided in Abilene, Texas until 1959. This month, Mr. and Mrs. Everett celebrated the 63rd anniversary of their marriage.
Mr. Everett was an extraordinarily dedicated husband and father. To the end, he could not let Mrs. Everett leave the room without telling her how much he loved her and that she was beautiful. His love for his entire family never waivered and was never doubted.
Mr. Everett was a man of great faith in his reliance on his Heavenly Father and his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He will forever be honored and remembered for his immense capacity to love unconditionally, to serve the needs of others without fanfare or recognition, and his ability to see the best in others without judgment or intolerance.
His nickname, Big H(e)art, truly describes the most outstanding aspect of Mr. Everett's personality and legacy. Mr. Everett had a long and successful career in the automotive finance businesses, working for CIT Corporation, Ford Motor Credit Company and Chrysler Credit Company.
He retired from Chrysler Credit Company in 1990. Following that, he worked for five years for the San Antonio Auto Auction. In addition to Haskell, Abilene, and San Antonio, Mr. Everett has resided in Brownwood, Odessa, El Paso and Richardson Texas, and Salina, Kansas.
Mr. Everett's favorite hobby was being anywhere and doing anything as long as he was with his wife and family. He enjoyed extensive traveling with Mrs. Everett, playing golf, and attending his sons' various athletic events during the years they were growing up.
Mr. Everett remained a long-time member of the Sunset Ridge Church of Christ in San Antonio, Texas, which he and his family joined when they moved to San Antonio in 1971.
Mr. Everett is survived by his wife, Patty Everett (San Antonio, Texas); his sons and their spouses, Trenton Earl Everett (Houston, Texas), Randy Paul Everett and his wife, Terri Everett (Cloudcroft, New Mexico), and Jimmy Dan Everett (San Antonio, Texas); his grandchildren, Eric Paul Everett and his wife, Alma Everett (San Antonio, Texas), Kellie Ruth Smith and her husband, Randall Smith (Kyle, Texas), and Trenton Earl "TJ" Everett, Jr. (Houma, Louisiana); and his great grandchildren, Madeleine Everett (San Antonio, Texas), Scottie Smith (Kyle, Texas) and Lillie Ruth Smith (Kyle, Texas).
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 26, 2014 at Porter Loring North.
