

Born in New Orleans, LA, Harve enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1954. With a two year break to attend University of Southern Mississippi, his nearly twenty years of active duty service to his country included two tours in Vietnam and postings in Frankfurt and Heidelberg, Germany; Fort Huachuca, AZ; Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, TX; and Yongsan Garrison in Seoul, South Korea. He was awarded multiple citations, including the Bronze Star with Oak Cluster. He retired from the Army in 1976 as a Lieutenant Colonel.
Following his honorable discharge from the Army, Harve earned a Master’s Degree from the University of Oklahoma and worked for the Oklahoma Department of Corrections and afterward for the Texas A&M Engineering Extension in San Antonio, TX, and also volunteered for various community positions. He was a Master Mason, Knight Templar, and a member of the Alzafar Shrine.
Harve was known for his bright smile, quick wit, and infectious laugh. The host of loving family members and loyal friends and acquaintances Harve leaves behind is a testament to his generosity and ability to strike up a conversation with any person of any background.
Survivors include sons Harve John Hagerty II (and partner Audrey Ciccone) of Reno, NV; Vaughn (Clif) Hagerty (wife Mary) of Wilmington, NC; and Michael James Hagerty (wife Christine) of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren Alexandra Hagerty of Concord, CA; Christopher (Chris) Hagerty of Gig Harbor, WA; and Sean Hagerty, Brendan Hagerty, and Allison Fuentes of of San Antonio, TX; plus numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws.
He is also survived by his beloved friend and companion, Lou Osburn.
Harve was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth Anne Hagerty, second wife Mary Sue Searles, and longtime companion Patricia (Pat) Klug.
A memorial service will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, November 16, at Porter Loring Mortuary North, 2102 N Loop 1604 E., San Antonio, TX. Burial with full military honors will take place at 2:15 p.m. Monday, November 17, at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, Shelter 2.
Harve was a blessed family treasure who will be forever remembered, cherished and loved.
