

Hayden Edward Boland went home to God on January 10, 2014. He was born December 2, 1943 in San Antonio, and is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Claire, his son, Blythe, and brother Michael Boland (Linda), sister Linda Schmidt (Thom), and a multitude of other beloved family members and friends.
Hayden served 25 1/2 years in the US Army attaining the rank of LTC. He was a Middle East expert which gave him and his family the incredible opportunity of living in the exotic lands of Iran and Egypt, and traveling in Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Turkey, and Israel. He was a very kind and generous man and was a great storyteller and excellent historian. He taught an adult Sunday school class for 21 years and was adept at connecting historical happenings to what was in the Bible. He also had a great sense of humor which served him well in dealing with the challenges of the disability that afflicted him the last 21 years of his life. He will be so greatly missed.
Funeral services will be held at Sunset Funeral Home on Thursday January 16th, 2014 at 12:00 P.M. Interment to follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery at 1:15 P.M. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a favorite charity in Hayden’s memory. He would like that.
