

She was a member of the Women's Army Corps (WACS) and served with the Red Cross during WWII. She was a devoted wife to Army Col. Lloyd L. Hanes for 53 years. During his enlistment, they served overseas in various countries. After retiring from the army, they continued to travel the world together. Hazel was a member of the Shrine of St. Padre Pio and enjoyed social gatherings via the Knife and Fork Club as well as the Bridge Club at Patriot Heights.
She was predeceased by her husband; brothers-in-law, Dr. Eugene Hanes and Le'Nard Hanes; sister-in-law, Mrs. Eugene Hanes. Hazel is survived by her sister-in-law, Mrs. Le'Nard Hanes; nephews, Dr. Tommy Hanes and wife, Julie, Dr. David Hanes and wife, Dixie Ann and George Hanes; niece, Nancy McKay and husband, Drew; 8 great-nieces, 1 great-nephew and 10 great, great nieces and nephews.
