

She was born Hazel Tom Smith in San Antonio, TX on December 5, 1922. She passed this life on December 15, 2016, at the age of 94. She is predeceased in death by her parents, Marvin and Olive Smith, and husband, Daniel J. Keuper. She is survived by her son, Brian J. Keuper and his wife, Joyce and son, Todd A. Keuper, Sr., and his wife Martha. She has three grandsons, 10 great-grandchildren and 1 great great- grandchild.
Hazel attended Brackenridge High School and graduated in 1940. She worked as a seamstress with a large clientele and later in the retail clothing business. She went to work for Wilson Properties in the mid 1960’s, and was the first woman in San Antonio to work in the field of construction which was dominated by men; she was highly respected. She retired after a 20-year career. Hazel, known as “Mimi” to her grandchildren, was loved by all who knew her. She was an avid hunter and had several trophies on her walls. She attended Shavano Baptist Church where she was very involved with the Quilt Ministry which benefitted many sick and hurting people. She will be greatly missed by many friends and family members.
Visitation will begin on Tuesday, December, 20, 2016 from 6p-8p at Sunset Funeral Home. A Chapel Service will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at 3pm with internment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
