'To Heather's family: 
My thoughts and prayers are with you for such a tragic loss. I've said this before and I will say it always; She was the best kind of person! I worked for her at Stantec and CEC for approx. 3 years. I thought that we made a great team! I'm going to miss going into her office and telling stories to make each other laugh. If you didn't have a smile on your face, she would ask "what is wrong?" She would then proceed to make you smile with something funny that she would say. We talked about her family and we talked about my family. That was always nice to be able to do with her. I enjoyed hearing about what she did with her family and she made me feel like she truly cared about what was going on with mine. She called me her friend; and I can see that she made many people fell the same way. I'm so sorry for your loss.

'Heather was a great friend as a business colleague in the civil engineering profession. We spent a number of years together on the board of the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC-SA). She was always upbeat, had a great sense of humor and was a very smart and dedicated engineer. When I received the shocking news early the next morning, I immediately prayed for her husband and children and other family members. I will never forget discussions about the most trivial, but humorous stories we shared about our experiences, but also the life events such as her step father's disease, the recent passing of her mother and her decision to pursue new avenues in her career. My last comment to Heather just a couple of weeks prior to her passing was "you are a very strong woman." Her response was a smile and a 'thank you.' She was always looking at the upside of any stressful situation and appreciated her friends, colleagues, coworkers, and always had loving things to say about her husband and children. I will miss her greatly. May God bless her soul and heal the grieving family.'
