Born: August 28, 1952, San Antonio
Died: January 30, 2011, San Antonio
Long before Hector Alejos donned a set of Army dress blues, he grew up on the Westside of San Antonio until the age of 17 when he enlisted.
With an aspiration to have a family one day, he wanted to build a foundation that would ensure a safe and loving nest for them, and that he did.
With a total of 24 years of military service, he had an impressive resume, which allowed him to earn the rank of First Sergeant (E-8) in the medical field.
Yet when he retired in 1993, there was more for him to accomplish. Over the next 11 years, he enjoyed changing people’s lives at the Bexar County Adult Probation Office.
Wanting to set an example for his daughters and grandchildren, he obtained a Bachelor degree of Science from the University of Troy.
First Sergeant Alejos, 58, died Saturday, January 30, of Alzheimer’s disease.
Loved ones recalled him as passionate about community work with the probation office and proud of his service in the Army as a First Sergeant.
His fascination with sports cars was well known by his friends and family. Vehicles owned ranged from a Plymouth Road Runner, Chevy Camaro, two Ford Mustang’s, and a Chevy Monte Carlo SS always kept him on the driver’s seat of life.
