Helen Bacon passed away peacefully in her sleep Sunday July 10, 2016 at the age of 96. All who knew Helen understood the blessing of her life that began May 2, 1920 in Lyons, Kansas. On the same day, 25 years later, she met the handsome Eddie Bacon at a USO dance that began a 56 year marriage. Helen and Ed raised their family in Denver, Colorado, a family of two daughters and two sons who were blessed by her amazing love and faith. Her love was revealed through her nutritious cooking, vegetable and rose gardening, hand-sewing, colorful quilting, and especially her chocolate chip cookies. Through all her life, Helen found her strength and energy from her faith in Jesus Christ. She remained active in Bible Study and would willingly and consistently share her faith with all who knew her. Ed passed away in 2001. She eventually moved to San Antonio to be close to her daughter Carolyn. Helen is survived by her four children: Carolyn Quandt in San Antonio,Texas; Roger Bacon in Helena, Montana; Julie Shirley in Dubois, Wyoming; and David Bacon in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Helen has 14 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson, born on her 96th birthday. Helen is greatly loved by all her family and friends!
