

Helen E. Brinkley passed away Monday, December 17, 2012 at the age of 100. She was born on October 16, 1912 in San Antonio, Texas to the late James Mann (of Von Ormy, Texas) and Kate Lancaster (of Lytle, Texas).
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred S. Brinkley, Sr. and her brother, Wayman Mann.
She is survived by her children, Fred S. Brinkley, Jr. and wife Debra, Gary M. Brinkley and wife Daisy, Stephen F. Brinkley and wife Carol, and Sally B. Hoppstetter and husband, Richard; her grandchildren, Gina Bauerle, John F. Brinkley, Angie Brinkley, Ted Brinkley (Nancy), Greg Brinkley, James S. Brinkley, Melissa Long (Joey), David F. Hoppstetter (Elizabeth); great grandchildren, Jake Bauerle, Josh Bauerle, Lexi Bauerle and Jaedyn Long.
Helen was a devoted church member her entire life, having belonged to Prospect Hill Baptist, Baptist Temple, Manor Baptist, and most recently, the First Mexican Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Brackenridge High School in 1930 after which she trained at a local business college. She worked for 20 years as a highly valued administrative assistant to doctors at the Fort Sam Houston Health Services Command.
Helen will always be remembered as a dedicated and generous wife, mother, and grandmother, who absolutely loved children. Most recently, she looked forward to seeing her great-grandchildren. Helen cared deeply for her friends as well as her family. Although most of her friends preceded her in death, Helen stayed in contact with the remaining ones and continued to make new friends. She looked forward to attending church services, Sunday school, and the senior luncheon at the First Mexican Baptist Church.
The family wishes to thank her special caregiver, Mrs. Dolores Reyna, for her high level of care and regard for Helen.
