

Helen "Concha" Elizondo, born October 31, 1905, of San Antonio, passed away quietly and peacefully at her home surrounded by family after a lengthy illness on Tuesday, November 26, 2002 at the age of 97. Mrs. Elizondo was co-owner of J. Elizondo and Sons Grocery Store on Nogalitos Street for over 20 years. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church, member of the Guadalupanas and the Choir at St. James Catholic Church and a volunteer at Southwest General Hospital and St. James Catholic Church for 10 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Reeves Elizondo; parents, Joe and Julia Rocha; and son-in-law, Canuto Diaz. Survivors include sons, Theodore Elizondo and wife, Olga; Dr. William Elizondo and wife, Maria Oralia; daughter, Margaret Diaz, all of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren, Joe E. Diaz, Sylvia Mills, Norma Hernandez and husband, Jose, Marisa Gutierrez and husband, Thomas, Ben Elizondo and wife, Kristi, William Richard Elizondo and wife, Cassie, and Joseph Elizondo; seven great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren.
Archbishop Patrick Flores, Celebrant and Father Emmet Carolan, Concelebrate. Soloist for service will be Andrea Alaniz and organist will be Mary Esther Bernal. Pallbearers: Fernando Rocha, Ben Elizondo, William Richard Elizondo, Joseph Elizondo, Gregory Diaz and Michael Paul Hernandez. Honorary Pallbearers: Dr. Richard Hernandez, Dr. J.J. Diaz, Bob Martin, Hollis Rutledge, Dr. Andy Portales of Del Rio, Dr. Carlos Portales, Jose Hernandez, and Gilbert Ramirez.
