

Helen was born on May 31, 1925, in Healdton, Oklahoma to Guilbert M. Waldrip and Helen Schmitz Waldrip, the second of three children. After she graduated from Healdton High School, she attended TSCW (TWU) in Denton, TX where she received a BA in Music Education. On June 4, 1947, she married John A. Hunt Jr. When they retired in San Antonio in 1981, they joined the Kum Doublers class at Alamo Heights United Methodist Church, which Helen continued attending up to her death.
Helen was predeceased by her parents, her husband John, her brother Guilbert M. Waldrip, Jr., sisters-in-laws, JoAnne Kruse Waldrip, Mary Portillo Waldrip, and JoAnn Hunt Rainey. Survivors include her daughters Marsha Hunt Byford (Dennis) of Stillwater, Oklahoma, and Sharon Hunt March of San Antonio, TX, brother James W. Waldrip of Roswell, New Mexico, grandchildren Dennis W. Byford, Jr. of Oklahoma City, OK, Marsha Byford Strickland and David W. Byford of Stillwater, OK, Kyle W. March and Sarah E. March of San Antonio, TX, six great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Helen played the piano for the Kum Doublers Sunday School class at AHUMC, communion at The Forum, and Thursday Lunch Bunch at AHUMC. She was a member of Alamo Heights United Methodist Church, Boysville Auxiliary, San Antonio Genealogical Society and Rowdy Widows. Helen will be remembered for kindness, generosity, and shrewd business sense.
