She was the most caring, thoughtful, and generous woman and will be remembered for being a God loving Christian who devoted her life and all her love towards her family, with special emphasis on her grand and great-grandchildren. So long as family was around, she remained the happiest person on the face of the earth. To be clear, Helen was survived by many blood relatives, but her list of family goes far beyond blood relations. The list of people that considered her a sister, a mother-figure, or called her Grandma Helen would stretch a mile. Not to mention her four-legged friends which she considered children to her.
When not with family, she filled her schedule being a socialite. Attending church regularly, hosting bible study, delivering flowers and meals to friends bound to their residences, high school reunions, elementary school reunions, evening walks with neighborhood friends in the golf course, mission trips to Honduras and Uganda, the list goes on.
She had a positive impact on all our lives and will be severally missed. A true role model.
She is preceded in death by her husband Albert Merrill, sons, Johnny Merrill (Kelly), and Albert Merrill, parents, Gustave Heye and Helen Moses, Sister, Elenita Gray (Alfred).
She is survived by her son, Doug Merrill and wife, Maria Monica Merrill; grandchildren, Nick Merrill, Kayla Rozelle (Winston), Zack Merrill (Taylor), Tanner Merrill, Matt Merrill (Elisheba), Ricky Jordan, Rodrigo Jordan (Ninfa), and Brenda Vidal (Thomas); great-grandchildren, Boston, Lillian, Presley, Juliana, Zoey, Rowan, Valentina, Tommy, Rodrigo, Uma, and soon to be Landon Merrill and Ferran Vidal; sister, Elizabeth Barry (Roy); and brother, Gustave Heye (Laura).
We all knew Helen to be kind and loving to all of God’s creatures. In lieu of flowers please donate to a local humane society of your choice or Christ Episcopal Church.
