August 29, 1942 – July 24, 2025
Helen Frances Davis Santago was born on August 29, 1942, in Canton, Mississippi, to Willie and Mattie Davis. She was the fifth of their eight children and their third beloved daughter.
In 1968, Helen married the love of her life, First Sergeant Nicholas Bernard Santago. Together, they built a life full of devotion, adventure, and shared purpose. Nick preceded her in death in 2020, but their deep bond remained a guiding light in Helen’s life. Their union was blessed with a daughter, Tracey Nicole Santago, who was the heart of Helen’s world.
Helen had a vibrant spirit and a wide range of passions. She was a gifted decorator, a thoughtful investor, a talented baker, and a generous philanthropist. She had a deep appreciation for the arts and took great joy in collecting meaningful pieces from her and Nick’s many travels. Helen found peace in nature, joy in her pets, and beauty in her garden. She also loved to shop, always with an eye for the unique and the elegant.
At her core, Helen was deeply spiritual. Her faith in God and belief in His goodness shaped the way she lived, loved, and gave to others. Her strength, grace, and unwavering spirit touched everyone who knew her.
Helen is survived by her cherished daughter, Nicole Santago; her sisters Carolyn Davis, Dorothy Davis, and Louella Holliday; her brother-in-law, John Holliday; and a large circle of cousins, nieces, nephews, dear friends, and loved ones who will continue to celebrate her life and legacy.
Helen will be remembered for her warmth, generosity, and the beautiful life she created and shared with those around her.
