Henrietta J. “Hettie” Wimberley, born on October 3, 1921 passed away peacefully in her home on June 26, 2016 at the age of 94. She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Wimberley; parents, Trevor and Clara Jones; brothers, William Jones, Trevor Jones, Llewelyn Jones, and sisters, Martha Jones and Mary Ruth Jones. She is survived by her devoted caregiver, Terry Gholston; friends, Michael Bell, John Buxie, Ferne Burney, Diana Ridgeway, and her beloved canine companion Molly.
Hettie loved her family and due to her mother’s early passing she became the matriarch of the family. During her lifetime she was a proud member of the civil service and had adventures such as living on a boat for many years with her husband.
The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at University United Methodist Church, 5084 De Zavala Rd. San Antonio, TX 78249. A graveside service will be held the next day on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. Charitable donations may be directed to the Humane Society in her name.
