

Henry W. Benavides, age 80, passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2020, at home surrounded by his family. He was born on August 26, 1940 in San Antonio, to parents, Henry and Dolores Benavides. Henry married his wife his senior year of college then graduated from St. Mary’s University with a Bachelor’s in Accounting. He was drafted soon after and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. After his service, Henry began his own businesses with his wife and father, as a memorialist, designing tombstones for families all across South Texas, which endures to this day. He served on numerous boards in the community and was a 4th Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus. His legacy will endure from his volunteering to his philanthropic nature with his involvement as a coach, sponsorship for various youth sports teams, membership in the San Antonio Conservation Society and several other organizations.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Henry is survived by his wife of 57 years, Olga; his three sons, Mark Henry Benavides and his wife, Linda; Matthew Henry Benavides; and Michael Henry Benavides and his wife, Jamie; grandchildren, Christian Henry Benavides, Charlotte Hanna Benavides, Peyton Lynn Benavides, and Colton Henry Benavides; his sister, Mary Ann Maldonado and her husband, Claudio; a niece, nephews, and numerous cousins.
The family will receive friends at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, December 20, 2020, at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
