

He was born Heinz-Ludwig Bock on March 2, 1926 in Hamburg, Germany to Walter and Ilse Bock. The family emigrated to the United States in the 1930’s and his name was officially changed when he became a U.S. citizen.
Henry was drafted in World War II into the US Army, and served in India. He left the service after the war but re-enlisted when the Korean War began. A short time before the end of that conflict, he was appointed First Sergeant of Company M, 179th Infantry, 45th Infantry Division. After retiring from the Army in 1971, he worked at Coca-Cola Co. and later at the Postal Service.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Fred. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Martha and children: Larry (Kim); Mike (Laura); Mickey Banigan (Tim); Doug; Cecilia Johnson (widow of Jim); grandchildren: Kelly and Kevin Bock; Michael Jr. and Marissa Bock; Tim Jr. and Patrick Banigan; Randy and Avery Bock; Sherri Johnson; also Fred’s widow Lorraine and their three children and three grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 6pm, Sunday, July 21, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, TX 78218, followed by a Rosary at 7pm. A Memorial Mass will begin at 9:30am, Monday, July 22, 2013 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 3303 Urban Crest, San Antonio, TX 78209. Interment will follow at Ft.
