He served in the U.S. Navy and received the American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with two Bronze Stars, and the World War II Victory Medal. He retired from Kelly AFB after 20 years of service; then was appointed Chief of Police at the Joe and Harry Freeman Coliseum for 18 years.
He was a member of the U.S.S. Tennessee Reunion Association, and was a lifelong member of the San Antonio Livestock Show and Rodeo, and American Legion Post #410.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Nell Flores; 5 children, Louise Menchaca, Henry Flores Jr., Leticia Tish Flores, Theresa Biedermann and husband Tom, and Edward Flores; and 6 grandsons, Ernest Menchace, E. J. Flores, Edward Biedermann, T. Zachary Biedermann, Garrett Flores, and Justin Flores.
