

Henry Phipps Lee born January 18, 1917 in Mansfield, Texas to parents Bennet and Charlotte Lee passed away peacefully on Tuesday October 20, 2015 at the age of 98. Spending his formative years on a ranch near Sudan, Texas; Henry learned the work ethic he carried through life. He enlisted in the Army in June 1942 serving during World War II with the 90th Infantry Division in France and Germany, during his tour he was wounded at the “Battle of The Bulge”. After retiring from the Army in 1968 Henry taught JROTC at Robert E. Lee High School from ’68 to ’79. Henry was a deacon at Northside Church of Christ from ’79 to ’85 and for Northern Oaks Church of Christ from ’85 to ’08. He volunteered at Brook Army Medical Center before moving to Windchime at the Village in Kingsland, Texas in 2008. Always one to set goals and organize his work, Henry completed his memoirs in 2015. His memoirs, “Tell it Like it is” were published just one month prior to his death.
Henry is preceded in death by his loving wife of 70 years, Evelyn Lee, his parents, one sister and three brothers. Henry is survived by his daughters, Wyoma Craghead (John) of Llano County, Texas and Lahonna Bridges (Frank) of Crystal River, Florida, three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Visitation will take place at Sunset Funeral Home Tuesday, October 27, 2015 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Funeral Services will take place in the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at 12:00pm followed by a committal service at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donation be made to the Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org
