

He was born at home to Henry C. Perez and Rebecca Tagle Perez on August 22, 1938, in San Antonio, TX. Upon graduation from Central Catholic High School (attended on a scholarship), he attended San Antonio College. He worked at Jack Amman Aerial Surveys where his career began in Cartography and Mapping. During this time, he belonged to the Catrin Social Club, later serving as president.
From 1961 - 1963 he served his country honorably in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers stationed in Japan. He remained a devoted supporter of military personnel, including the Disabled American Vets Association. After completing his military service and returning to civilian life, he worked for International Aerial Mapping Company where he continued to hone his skills. Henry was one of the original members of the "Dirty Dozen" Hunt Club known as the "Drill Instructor" (D.I.). He moved on to serve as Vice President with H. M. Gousha Mapping of San Jose, CA. With H. M. Gousha, he opened and managed a satellite plant in Comfort, TX. He was a member of the Mapping Science Committee from 1987-1989, which was part of the Board on Earth Sciences and Resources under the National Research Council. Henry completed his career as Production Manager with Rand McNally Mapping in Daytona Beach, Florida.
Upon retirement, he returned to San Antonio, TX to be near family. He enjoyed playing golf, daily exercise and yard/garden work. Henry imparted his strong morals and wisdom to his family and friends on a daily basis. He also left to his family a self-researched genealogy of ancestry as well as a self-written moral guide to his ten grandchildren entitled "Papaw's Legacy to His Grandkids: A Guidebook to a Fulfilling and Contented Adult Life".
He is survived by his devoted wife of thirty-one years Cecilia Perez; daughter, Rebecca Coker (William); four stepchildren, Gregory Gorrell, Grant Gorrell, Gretchen DeBerry (Mark) and Gaye Marie Petty; ten grandchildren, Carlos Joseph Coker, Kaitlin, Emma, Taylor and Travis Gorrell, Lauren, Dillon and Kyndal DeBerry, and Keaton and London Petty; brothers, Richard Perez (Dorothy), Samuel Perez (Sylvia); sister, Elizabeth Kropp (Jimmy); numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 30, 2014 from 6:00-7:00 PM at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
