Herbert A. Schaefer

Herb was a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin.

He worked at the Bexar County court house for over 44 years. He began in the court house in 1965, working for Hart McCormick, the District Clerk. He continued as a court clerk in Judge Anees Mann's court.

In 1981 he was appointed to the position of District Clerk by the district court judges. In 1981 he also ran for the position of District Clerk. Herb worked in the court of appeals from 1982 to 2007.

He continued his services at the court house by working in the probate court as the Probate Consultant for Judge Tom Rickhoff from 2008 to present.

Herb enjoyed the outdoors, was an avid hunter and loved animals.

Herb was a loving husband, father, brother, and friend.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Reuben and Margaret Schaefer.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Joan Schaefer; daughter, Taryn Schaefer, step-daughter, Robynne Paugh John, sister, Shirley Fox, and brothers, James and Richard Schaefer.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 16th from 5:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at Porter Loring on McCullough.
