Herlinda was born in Del Rio, Texas to Herlinda Cerna and Catarino Rodriguez on August 9, 1934. She married Ancelmo V. Guzman on September 20, 1952 in Albert Lea, MN. She worked in food service for many years in Wisconsin at High Ridge Hospital in the hospital's cafeteria before moving back to her homeland of Texas. Herlinda’s last place of employment was at Houston Elementary School in Lancaster Texas, serving many children.
Herlinda had a love of cooking, and was an excellent home cook of her authentic Mexican dishes. When you visited her home she would always have a delicious meal to offer. Somehow never using recipes, and still being able to present these dishes time and time again from memory. Her other pastime was crocheting which was self taught at a young age. Never able to read the pattern instructions, but able to recreate the crocheted stitches just from sight. Herlinda loved a good game of bingo, and played whenever family would gather, and was a great competitor! She brought her family so much joy, and laughter with her wicked sense of humor. Most of all Herlinda’s personality shined through with kindness and a smile for everyone she met.
Herlinda is preceded in death by husband Ancelmo V. Guzman, daughter Mary Romero, grandson Greg Morgan, and great grandson Aric Morgan.
