Hernaldo (Gordo) Chavez, a Team Lead for Toyota San Antonio and lifelong resident of Texas died on September 18, 2021, at the age of 34 after a long battle with post Covid-19 symptoms. Hernaldo is survived by his parents, Humberto and Alma; his wife, Martha; his children, Karen, Johnivan and Catherine; his brother Jesus Chavez and wife Amanda and sister Erika Marino and her husband Daniel.
Hernaldo Chavez was born in McAllen, TX on February 10, 1987, to Humberto and Alma. Hernaldo attended the University of Brownsville and studied for a degree in engineering. On January 1, 2009, he joined his best friend, soul mate and love of his life, Martha Lozano, and loved her with all his heart. Hernaldo loved and cherished each of his children and were the most important part of his life.
Hernaldo was a devoted father and husband and enjoyed life. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and shooting with his friends. But the majority of his time was spent with his family. Hernaldo enjoyed spoiling his children and his wife. He loved being home and having movie nights and collecting pokemon. He also enjoyed doing many projects around the house such as gardening. If he didn’t know how to do it, he figured it out. Of course, no project or any down time was complete without music. Hernaldo loved music of all types. His legacy will live on through music. To quote the great Frank Sinatra, “And now the end is here. And so I face that final curtain. My friend I’ll make it clear. I’ll state my case, of which I’m certain. I’ve lived a life that’s full. I traveled each and every highway. And more, much more. I did it. I did it my way.” Hernando lived life to the fullest and more. He did it his way. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who had the pleasure to know him.
A visitation is scheduled for Thursday, September 23, 2021, from 10:00AM to 1:00PM at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Rd, San Antonio, TX 78238. This will be immediately followed by a funeral service. Burial will take place the following morning at 10:00AM at Cordi- Marian Cemetery.
