Higinio C. Sibrian (“Gene”), 89, went to be with his Lord on March 03, 2018, in San Antonio, TX. He was born on January 11, 1929 in Seguin, TX to Jose and Margarita Sibrian. He is preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife: Stella G. Sibrian; his son: Leroy Sibrian; his brothers: Francisco Sibrian, Faustino Sibrian, Andres Sibrian; his sisters: Genoveva Castellon, Dolores Rodriguez, Vencita Sibrian; his grandsons: Ray Arguello, Jason Garcia. He is survived by his children: Jimmy Sibrian; Ruth S Arguello (Tony); Norma S Ogden (James); Ted Sibrian (Nancy); Michael Sibrian (Rosie). He will also be missed by his 20 grandchildren, and 24 great-grandchildren. Higinio attended Fox Tech High School and was a graduate of Southwest Texas State University, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Arts and Sciences. He was a hard worker who took pride in continuously learning and in dedicating his life to serving others. He served in the US Army as a medic in the 141st Infantry, and later went on to serve as a certified Occupational Therapist at the San Antonio State Chest Hospital for 23 years. He also served at the VA Hospital, working in the Opportunity Workshop for Mentally Ill, as well as a Health Occupations teacher at Southwest High School. Upon his retirement, along with his wife Stella, Higinio also owned and operated the Sibrian Nursing Home, and managed several rental properties. Known to his family as “Gene from Seguin, the Dancing Machine”, Higinio loved to dance. Whether he was dancing to “The Twist” or “The Jitterbug”, Higinio did it very well. Higinio was a family man who valued his faith, often times singing in the choir at church, participating in Christmas programs, and sharing Gospel readings with his grandchildren. He especially enjoyed being together with his family and making them laugh by making silly faces, telling jokes, and dancing around with his maracas or tambourine. His humor never relented. Though he will be greatly missed, Higinio has left behind a strong legacy and countless memories that will continue to live on. He has made his family very proud, and he will dance in their hearts forever. The Sibrian Family would like to thank the staff of San Jose Nursing Center for loving Higinio, caring for him in his last years of life, and always making him feel at home; as well as the staff of New Century Hospice for providing quality and dignified care. Visitation will be on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Trevino Funeral Home (Cupples Rd) from 5:00-9:00 p.m., with the Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Procession will depart on Friday, March 9, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. for a 10:00 a.m. Church Service at Harlandale Christian Church with Interment to follow at San Jose Burial Park.

Thank you for all of the memories, Grandpa. Always making us laugh with your funny faces, hilarious jokes, and of course your dance moves. You're free now. It gives me comfort to know you're having a dance party doing the twist with grandma, and the rest of our family members up in heaven. You will always be Gene from Seguin, the Dancing Machine. We'll miss you. We love you. Un dia a la vez...
