Hollis was born in Denton, Texas on April 9. He served in the US Navy aboard the USS Kaskaskia during the Korean War, before beginning his career as an insurance adjuster, owning Calvert Claims Service, and eventually retired from Cigna Insurance.
Mr. Calvert was a member of the US Power Squadron and Coker United Methodist Church, danced with the Lamp Lighters and Star Dusters, and was a former member of the Elks Club.
Hollis is preceded in death by his daughter Rebecca Calvert in 2007, and is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Louise; son Robert Calvert; daughter Connie Calvert-Bosquez; and grandchildren, Lauren Calvert and Benji Bosquez.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Coker United Methodist Church.
