I remember when Marcos first introduced me to his grandma a year ago or so. Relaxing on the couch with a light blanket over her legs and a gray walker by her side, Grandma’s brown eyes lit up, and she had this big, warm smile on her delicate face. She was so happy to meet the person that Marcos had been chatty about and head over heels in love with. And I was happy to meet the person who loved Marcos dearly and is very important to him.

I wish I had more time to get to know Grandma more before her time came. I wish I knew her as long as her family and friends had. But from what I hear, she was kind and loving to everyone. From those heartfelt brown eyes to that genuine smile, I see it. God has definitely gained an Angel in Heaven, and her name is Hortense. May she rest forever in peace.
