He soon moved to Lincoln, Nebraska where he grew up and attended college at the University of Nebraska, graduating in 1932, with a AB degree in Geology.
He married Jean Ivins in 1933. They moved to Midland, Texas and finally to San Antonio to pursue the oil business in 1933, where he has since resided. Mr. Colton was active in the South Texas Geological Society until he retired.
In 1942, he entered military service. After World War II, he continued to serve in the Army Reserves, retiring as a Colonel in 1972.
He was married to Jean until her death in 1962. In 1965, he married Anne Lawrence to whom he was married until her death in 1997.
Mr. Colton joined the San Antonio Sail and Power Squardron in 1972, rising to the rank of Commander. He was an active member in AA for 29 years.
After his retirement at age 85, he spent many hours volunteering at North East Baptist Hospital and The Green Door.
Mr. Colton died on December 28, 2002 at 12:32 AM.
One daughter, Michael Jean Geise and one granddaughter, Wendy Jean Geise, survive him.
