Howard was preceded in death by his parents, Marjorie Flint Martin and Howard Lee Martin.
Howard graduated with a Pharmacy degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1961. While there, he played the organ for a large church in Oklahoma City. Music was one of his great joys.
After graduating, he entered the Air Force. He was trained as a hospital administrator, receiving a Master's Degree from the Army-Baylor University Graduate Program in Health and Business Administration at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas. He enjoyed a varied career in many places, including Ankara, Turkey. While there, he and his family had the opportunity to travel throughout the Middle East, Russia and Egypt. As his children grew up, he was a soccer coach, PTA president, Scout leader and a great supporter of all their activities.
After retiring from the Air Force in San Antonio, Texas, he participated in many volunteer activities, including Stephen Ministry at Alamo Heights United Methodist Church, of which he was a leader as well.
He also worked as an administrator at the University Hospital and subsequently a pharmacist.
Survivors, in addition to his wife of fifty years, Keene Roadman Martin, are his children, Dr. Marjorie Martin Ringrose and her husband, Simon Ringrose of Boston, Massachusetts and Dr. Howard Lee Martin, III (Trey) and his wife, Michelle Jensen Martin of Houston, Texas. He was extremely proud of his grandchildren, Ben, Emily, Sam, Tucker, Parker, and Mary Ellen. Howard is also survived by his brother-in-law, Dr. Charles Roadman (Chip) and wife, Anne and nephews, Charlie Roadman and Jamie Roadman and their families.
A heartfelt thanks goes to Dr. David Gordon and his staff at the Cancer Care Clinic of South Texas for their years of devoted care to Howard.
