Hubert (Tom) was born in So. Weymouth, MA, on January 6, 1930 to Hubert T. Kean Sr., and Edith (Robbins) Kean. He started school, but left to join the Army Air Corps at 16. While serving at Barksdale AFB, he met and married Juanita Gallardo. They had two children, Theresa (Teri) and Thomas Joseph (TJ).

When the Army Air Corps split into the Army and the Air Force, Tom went into the Air Force and served in various Chaplain's offices as an enlisted man. He subsequently attended Officer Candidate School in San Antonio, Texas, graduating as a 2nd Lieutenant.

He rose through the ranks and served in posts in Louisiana, Hawaii, Washington D.C., Vietnam and Nebraska. He received the Air Force Commendation Medal for Meritorius Service, as well as other accolades and honors. He retired from active duty as a Lieutenant Colonel on December 1, 1978,. and has resided in San Antonio since then.

Preceding Tom in death were his parents, wife Juanita, sister Edith, and brother James. He is survived by children Teri (JD) Stevens and J Kean of Cheyenne, WY, grandchildren Chrissie (Donnie) Nelson of Cheyenne, WY, and Travis (Tessa) Stevens of Wellington, CO. and 6 great grandchildren. He is also survived by close friend and caretaker Robert Font.
