

Spence Warren, 78, of San Antonio, passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2007, from complications resulting from cancer. He was born November 23, 1928 in Gary, Indiana to Hubert Spence Warren, Sr. and Eva I. Rasmussen Warren.
He was awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree from DePauw University in 1951 and while there was President of Delta Kappa Epsilon Fraternity, he was also awarded a Masters in Business Administration from Harvard Business School in 1953. He served in the US Army in 1953-1955 and was honorably discharged.
His career in the furniture industry started as a manufacturer's representative in Kansas City, MO., where he met and married the former Jane Thiel in 1958. He later founded and was president of Perfection Furniture Company, Hickory, NC. He became a turn-around Management specialist, taking struggling businesses such as Franklin Furniture Company, Columbiana, Ohio and Pontiac Furniture Company, Pontiac, Illinois, turning those companies back to profitability. He also served as a director of The National Association of Furniture Manufacturers.
Mr. Warren subsequently was named as President of Seth Thomas Clocks; the country's oldest continuously operating clock manufacturer. Later in his career Mr. Warren was also an Academic Administrator where he held a role of Associate Dean, School of Business, Georgetown University, Washington, D.C., as well as the Director of Career Development and Placement at the Jones School of Business at Rice University, Houston, TX. He and his wife Jane became residents of San Antonio and have been active members of First Presbyterian Church since 2000. He was a volunteer with San Antonio Chapter of SCORE and a Volunteer Reader for SAISD elementary schools.
Survivors: wife, Jane T. Warren; sons, Bryan C. Warren and wife, Barbara J., San Diego, CA, and Robert R. Warren, Playa Hermosa, Costa Rica; grandchildren, Hali M. Warren and Hana L. Warren, both of San Diego, CA; and nephew, Mark W. Dean, St. Petersburg, FL.
