Craig recently celebrated retirement from 30 years of educational service in the NEISD, 29 years at his beloved MacArthur High School. He was instrumental in beginning their law enforcement and criminal justice program, which combined his love of teaching and law enforcement.
He grew up in the Northeast ISD, being a first year attendee at Walzem Elementary, Krueger Jr. High, and Roosevelt HS. In his school days he was a multi-sport athlete and member of a number of groups, organizations, and clubs. He graduated from SWTSU, where he began his law enforcement career, and then began teaching full time in 1977. Besides teaching he was an activity administrator at Mac HS for many years and was proud to be able to attend hundreds of UIL events watching thousands of students represent their school on the way to becoming positive role models and productive citizens. He had the opportunity to teach two generations of students whose parents he went to school with. He was always proud to proclaim how many of his extended family are educators.
He was a member of the Church of Christ and had opportunities to build and help start a number of churches with his family as he was growing up.
His parents, Raymond H. and Joyce C. Hallmark, and stepmother of many years Sue Hallmark predeceased him. He is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy Hallmark; and siblings Doug and Beverly Hallmark, Jim and Tama Blend, and their children, Paige with husband Brad, JB, and Jenna; Nate and Sheila Stark and their son, John, his wife Sally, and their two children; Ken and Denise Stark, Connie and John Doak with their children Jordan and Evan. Likewise, he had a large extended family from all over Texas.
He counts as close friends the very large group of peace officers and educators he worked with over more than 30 years. He was very thankful for the full and happy life he enjoyed. He loved his family and friends, but desired to not burden them with formal services. His wishes were to be immediately cremated and his ashes be spread in a number of memorable places, quietly by his family.
To celebrate his life he asks to simply have family and friends make donations to the American Cancer Society, and to send a note to his family about a happy memory they enjoyed with him. Our family thanks the many family and friends who helped shape the loving, fun, happy, dedicated educator Craig came to be.
