Ilene Fater

Ilene Fater passed away peacefully on Friday, October 10th 2025, at the age of 92 in San Antonio, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fern and Raymond Timmons; her husband of 65&1/2 years, Bill Fater and her daughter, Joni Fater Hartness. Ilene is survived by daughters, Linda Hutchins (Johnnie) of Woodstock, GA; Karen Gottfried (John) of San Antonio, TX; granddaughters, Jenna, Shanon, Jessica, Janice, Stacey, Sandra; grandson, Steven, and nine great grandchildren.

Ilene was born in Spring Hill, Kansas on June 5, 1933. She joined the Air Force after high school and met her husband Bill Fater in Cheyenne Wyoming. Ilene and Bill were married on July 1, 1952. Ilene was a resident of San Antonio since she and Bill moved here in 1955.

She showed her daughters the importance of hard work, honesty, loyalty, and respect for others. Ilene was a member of Alamo United Methodist Church. She cared deeply for her family and her faith. She always enjoyed RV traveling, cooking and baking, jigsaw puzzles and reading a good book.

The family would like to thank the staff at Brookdale for their loving and compassionate care for our Mother for the past 2+ years.

Though our hearts are broken, we are all at peace knowing she is reunited with so many family and friends that went before her. Most of all, we are thankful she is reunited with the Love of her Life, her husband Bill.

Visitation will be held from 12-2pm, service from 2-3pm and graveside service at 3pm at Sunset Memorial Park. Following the graveside service family and friends will gather at Sunset Memorial for a life celebration.
